proot software package provides emulate chroot, bind mount and binfmt_misc for non-root users, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install proot
proot is installed in your system.
Make ensure the proot package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep proot *
You will get with proot package name, version, architecture and description in a table
